I promise

I've been way busy and there really haven't been many good releases in the last couple weeks. Tuesday dropped a bunch of good bombs and I'll put something together over the weekend. Passion Pit is what's hot right now. Im sure you little pirates know how to find it.

Perfecting the Art of Self-Medicating

I guess i've been slacking but my activities irl have been sucking up all of my attention. I think pop punks making a comeback. There's been a few decent records from bands i thought were cool in high school. And I don't know if i should feel good for them or feel like i'm getting old and lame. Regardless, Scarlett Johansson is on the cover of Vogue Paris. Drool.

Back to the subject of punks, I stumbled upon this video by Living with Lions. While not changing the musical world in any way, they just seem like cool dudes who love the music they play. And that's enough for me.

All of my friends have been getting into handcrafted stuff. I think it's great. There's something about things that look like they took forever to make that puts me at peace. These Visionaire popup books are a perfect example.

Kris Kuksi makes some of the most awesome mixed media sculptures i've ever seen. The intricacy and detail on some of these things is ridiculous. His website is here. Definately check out the Church Tank.

Hows your bracket?

Lil Wayne- Prom Queen

Not bad Weezy, not bad. And you got Korn backing you up so it could work.

When did Clay Aiken join The Offspring?
This guy's got a bad habit of blow drying his hair.

Really?

They got trinkets!

It's spring break. This means sunburns, sand down your pants and slurred speech. A lot of slurred speech. Like that Seinfeld where Kramer meets the Velvet Fog. Getting back to the point, its more fun getting sauced to metal. It's a scientific fact. So here's Mixtape #2. Don't drink and drive kidz.

Rising from the ashes.

There are a million reasons why this band should be huge. Being related to the Coppolas, appearances in Marie Antoinette and The Virgin Suicides, acting as Air's backing band, Oh, and one of the members was in a band with these two guys Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manual de Homem-Christo. Well they moved on with this new band Daft Punk. Maybe you've heard it. Anyways, Phoenix is putting out a new album March 25th called Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. If you go over to www.wearephoenix.com you can not only download the first single "1901" but also a multitrack download so you can crank your own remix at your next dance party.

Games

Regardless of your feelings about Fall Out Boy, I know every one of you spent a few hours every week of your childhood playing Oregon Trail in computer lab. In case you lost your 5.25" disk and your Apple II computer is packed in the garage, FOB Trail is true to the original with a few well placed updates. Its like the Emo Game and my childhood mated. So drop your joystick and get ready to ford the river and hunt for food. Fall Out Boy Trail.

3 years after the release of Blood Mountain, Atlanta's epic Mastodon will be releasing their new album, Crack the Skye, on March 24th. And if you go to  www.cracktheskye.com you can hear a few tracks from the upcoming album while you bury your brain in bong resin and feast your eyes on some wacky visuals.

New Cursive Album, March 10th

Also, the new Cursive album Mama, I'm Swollen is due out March 10th. But since im such a nice guy here is a link to the first song released 'I Couldn't Love You'. Tim Kasher is an American troubadour. And while you're at the Entertainment Weekly site be sure to check out the 13 best/worst moments of the dog and pony show known as the oscars. Natalie Portman is basically perfect looking and Ben Stiller wishes he had come up with that junkie routine. On to the tunes!

Mixtape #1

So for now im going to try and do this as mixtapes. I'll try to put up 2 or 3 a month. Mixtape monday? Haven't really decided yet. This first one is pretty atmospheric. All instrumental. Burn it to CD. Listen to it in your car. I still haven't worked out all of the kinks in setting up the track order so depending on what you listen to music through it may be in the right order, may not.

Enjoy it. And let me know if there are any problems.
